Create a Listening Zone

Open drill settings, tap "Manage Listening Zones", then "Create New Zone"

Listening Zones are a Pro feature that show how sound delay affects what performers hear on the field. For each page of the drill, an Administrator designates one performer as the tempo source, and UDBapp displays a color overlay showing how well other performers can hear that source:

  • Green: Within accurate earshot of the source

  • Yellow: Some audio delay from the source

  • Clear: Out of range of the source

The overlay is based on UDBapp's analysis of how sound travels across a football field, accounting for distance from the source, performer facing, and tempo.

Once created, Listening Zones are visible to all participants in their Custom Views.

Create a Listening Zone

  1. Open a drill

  2. Tap the UDB button, then the Settings button

  3. Under "Drill Settings", tap Listening Zones

  4. Tap Manage Listening Zones

  5. Tap Create New Zone

  6. Select the tempo source dot, page range, tempo, and direction

  7. Tap Create

Tempo Source Dot

The individual that the ensemble on the field will "listen back to" for a tempo reference (typically a percussionist).

Page Range

The length in pages that this Listening Zone will apply. If the tempo source dot needs to change during the drill, create two different Listening Zones accordingly.

Tempo

The tempo of the music during this Listening Zone. If tempo changes, create an additional Listening Zone accordingly.

Direction

Set the direction the tempo source dot will be facing (this impacts where sound travels)
